Where Is The Best Place To Get Car Insurance?

The world of car insurance is almost as vast as financial services in general. Everywhere you look there are companies advertising insurance. So where do you go to find the best deals?

Levels of Service

The answer is not quite a simple as you may think because unfortunately one of the elements that makes up “the best deal” is not just the cost of the premiums it’s getting what you paid for, in other words, the quality of service when you have to make a claim.

There is one company that advertises on British television that, like so many companies, offers to provide a low, low price on many types of insurance. But a colleague of ours who had reason to make a claim was appalled by the poor level of service he received. More than that he said he would never recommend the company to anybody and indeed even more than that he suggested he would actively discourage people he met to insure with them.

However, we wouldn’t want to name that company here, suffice it to say that you need to evaluate as carefully as possible the level of service you think you might receive if the time comes to put in a claim.

Brokers

An insurance broker is a person or a company that will scour the market for you to find the best price for your particular needs. Often they will come up with a price that is substantially lower than you will find even with their fee buried away in your premium. A brokerage also provides you with a bit of leverage if you find the insurance company being silly when it comes to paying out.

Brokers should also keep abreast of all the changes in the market so when it comes to renewal time they will be able to give advice on the best deal available at that time.

Brokers don’t just deal with car insurance. A good broker will be able to offer you advice on the whole range of insurances available. So whether it’s your pet or your business it will always be worth consulting your broker, which you can probably find on the Internet.

Stelios, up and at it

If using a broker isn’t your cup of tea then it will be worth trawling the internet yourself to see what you can come up with.

For example, there are a number of retailers that have gone in to car insurance in recent times, among them is the owner of the low price orange liveried Easy Jet, Stelios, who now has Easy Money as part of his Easy Group of companies.

Easy, easy!

Easy Money car insurance works in conjunction with the huge global financial services company, Zurich Insurance and aims to offer consumers the best price possible and thereby make car insurance more affordable than ever.

Quite how he will do that we don’t know and although it’s easy to cut back the cost of an aircraft flight by cutting back the trimmings, we’re not quiet sure where the overheads have been cut on car insurance. They may include larger excesses on their policies.

The small print

It’s always a good idea to read all the small print carefully, no matter what company you decide to go with and ask as many questions as you need to in order to feel satisfied you understand exactly what you are getting for your money.

Other retailers in the car insurance market include Asda and the Post Office.

Undoubtedly Asda sails into this industry on the back of its well publicised friendly and helpful television advertising campaigns for its supermarkets.

If the service is as friendly and helpful as all the happy smiling people on the telly suggest then at least if you have an accident you will enjoy the claims process! Or is that just an image from one of the many advertisers trying to get at your money?
